Why did we open Salmon King Lodge of Red Bluff?

Because we love to catch King Salmon and share that thrill with our guests.

Because we love salmon fishing, we've done lots of it. In the late 90's we purchased a lovely custom-built hilltop home on 10 acres in the country just west of Red Bluff; then we bought a boat and started fishing the Sacramento River ourselves. For the past 5 years we have thoroughly enjoyed turning friends and relatives on to the magic of the Sacramento River.

While we agree "the worst day fishing is better than the best day working", we just hated organizing our weekend trips. "Why can't we take care of our fishing trip with just one call?". Then we remembered what made our Alaskan lodge trips so special - we were taken care of! Thus, Salmon King Lodge of Red Bluff was born to provide our guests with that true "taken care of" experience.

Your Hosts


Bill Divens - Host, guide, captain and CFO (Chief Fishing Officer)
At the tender age of 4, Bill caught his 1st native brook trout on a remote stream in the hills of Pennsylvania and has been passionately pursuing trout and salmon in Alaska, Canada and California ever since. A Silicon Valley high tech executive in his former life, Bill is now a licensed California guide, holds a USCG Captain's license and is Red Cross certified in first aid and CPR.

Julie Divens - Host, first mate, and CNO (Chief Netting Officer)
A voice and screen actor, Julie would have been voted the girl least likely to fish until she met Bill. She is now a highly competent salmon angler, often out-fishing the guys in the boats around her. Julie learned a lot over the past 12 years and has an amazing ability to pass on her knowledge to novice anglers.

Our Guide Partners
Every year since we opened Salmon King Lodge of Red Bluff, it has been our pleasure to host more and more guests. We completed expansion of the Guest House to 4 bedrooms and 2.5 baths in August 2007 to add lodging for the clients of our Guide Partners. While Bill will be fishing everyday that he can,there are many days during salmon season that more than one group wants to fish on a particular day. As anyone who has stayed with us can tell you, we just hate to disappoint our guests, so, we have added two guide partners.
Of the dozens of full time guides and scores of weekend warriors in our area, we have selected two fishing guides to provide our guests with the same fun experience that you have come to expect from Salmon King Lodge while adding a special flair that is all their own.

Jason Thatcher (www.allriverfishing.com)- We are starting to believe that Jason was born with a fishing rod in his hand. With a depth of experience from California to Alaska that belies his years, Jason will put you on fish and teach you how to get them to the boat.
Jason runs all of the drift boat fly fishing trips out of the lodge in his custom built 2007 FishCraft drift boat. Jason specified every inch of this boat and it shows. We've had many fun and productive days drifting the Sacramento River chasing rainbows and steelhead from Jason's new drift boat.
During salmon and striper season, Jason guides his guests on a 24' Fish Rite tiller style jet boat. While his home waters are now the Northern Sacramento River, Jason still guides his old stomping grounds for stripers, steelhead and salmon from Sacramento to Rio Vista to Oroville.

River Wolf (www.fishriverwolf.com) - River has a passion for fishing. This passion has taken him on fishing adventures to Puerto Rico, Belize, Florida, Hawaii, and his favorite location the mighty Sacramento River.
River worked for many years as an Estate Director and Special Projects Manager for a famous Napa Valley Winery. While the challenges and rewards at the winery were great, the call of the salmon won and River now lives 2 blocks from the Sacramento River in Tehama, CA.
River guides our smaller groups of 1 or 2 guests in his 2006 19 ft. Custom Weld Viper II jet boat. River is an absolute fishing fanatic who works hard to put you on fish and get them to the boat.
